Italian shipbuilder, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS), has built the new vessel with a capacity of 5,500 cbm. It will be operated by Polaris New Energy, the bunkering division of Seaside LNG, in the Gulf of Mexico.
The new vessel will join Seaside LNG’s fleet as a sister ship to Clean Canaveral, which is the largest Jones Act-compliant LNG bunkering barge. Clean Canaveral has completed over 65 LNG bunker deliveries from Port Canaveral in Florida since it was delivered by FBS two years ago, the company said.
"The delivery of the Clean Everglades gives us the ability to expand our LNG bunkering business to the Gulf of Mexico," Seaside LNG's chief executive Tim Casey said.
“Demand for LNG to fuel the maritime sector is growing rapidly with orders for LNG vessels eclipsing 30% of the fleet orderbook,” the company said in a statement.
Seaside LNG has been expanding its fleet of LNG bunker barges that are operated by Polaris New Energy. In February, the company acquired LNG bunker barge Clean Jacksonville from the US-based maritime company TOTE Group.
