Viking unveils hydrogen-powered cruise ship

Cruise operator Viking has unveiled its hydrogen-powered cruise ship Viking Libra at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard in Italy.

The vessel will be powered by a propulsion system based partly on liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells.

Viking claims it is the “world's first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions.”

Viking Libra is scheduled for delivery in November 2026.

Upon delivery, the vessel will sail its inaugural itineraries across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
