X-Press Feeders currently operates four methanol-capable dual-fuel vessels and has at least another 10 on order for delivery through next year.

It could purchase around 10,000–15,000 mt/year of bio-methanol to fuel its dual-fuel fleet.

The fuel is expected to come from PuriFire’s “planned facilities, alongside the co-development of port-based production sites across the UK and Europe,” the producer said.

According to the company’s social media posts, PuriFire has already launched a research and development facility in Royston, Cambridgeshire and a demonstration plant at Shoreham Port in the UK.

These sites could potentially serve as early supply sources for bio-methanol production.

However, the start-up has not yet shared further details on timeline for production or the terms of a formal offtake agreement.
