Yokohama to remove port fees for methanol and biofuelled vessels
The Yokohama Port and Harbour Bureau has said it will establish a carbon-neutral port to support Japan’s goal of achieving a decarbonised society by 2050.

From 1 January, the port of Yokohama will launch an incentive programme offering exemptions from port entrance fees for methanol-fuelled vessels and vessels that have bunkered at least 300 mt of fuel with a minimum biofuel content of 24%.
The initiative aims to promote the International Container Strategic Port Policy and enhance the port’s automobile cargo handling capacity, according to a statement from the port.
LNG-fuelled vessels (excluding LNG carriers) are already exempt from port entrance fees at Yokohama. In June, Yokohama conducted Japan’s first LNG bunkering of a cruise vessel.
