The 41,000-cbm vessel, Moriond, can operate on both LPG and conventional marine fuels, making it the third dual-fuel LPG midsize gas carrier in Exmar's fleet.
The vessel will be owned and operated by Exmar France, while Exmar Ship Management will oversee its technical management. The company has not disclosed the shipyard that built Moriond or where it will be deployed.
The global fleet of LPG-capable vessels currently stands at 172 ships, with a further 145 expected to enter service by 2030. Of the existing fleet, 161 vessels are dedicated LPG carriers, while the remaining 11 are designed to transport both LPG and ammonia, according to classification society DNV.
The delivery comes amid a wave of activity in the LPG-fuelled shipping segment this month.
Gas carrier owner Dorian LPG has ordered a new LPG dual-fuel very large gas carrier (VLGC) from South Korea's HD Hyundai. Meanwhile, China's Jiangnan Shipyard and China Shipbuilding Trading Company have begun construction of an LPG dual-fuel ammonia carrier.
Elsewhere, Swiss energy company BGN has ordered two additional dual-fuel VLGCs from South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. DNV has also granted approval in principle (AiP) for an LPG dual-fuel container vessel design developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
In another major order, Singapore-based BW LPG has contracted HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to build eight LPG dual-fuel VLGCs.
